In this Trans Talk session we explored the emotional and practical aspects of beginning social transition, from building inner self-love and confidence, to navigating reactions when coming out. We reflected on the importance of preparing mentally and emotionally, showing compassion for others’ responses, and finding community support.

Understanding and Accessing Gender Identity Services
This Trans Talks session focused on helping individuals to understand how to begin their journey through the UK’s gender healthcare system. Building on the previous session about coming out and social transition, this session explored practical guidance and shared lived experiences of engaging with both NHS and private gender clinics.

Transgender Representation in Media
In this month’s Trans Talks, we explored how transgender people are portrayed in TV, film, news, and online spaces, and why representation matters. In the session we explored how both negative and positive representation affects societal attitudes, self-perception, the broader visibility of trans lives, and holds real-world impact.

Changes in Relationships After Transition
In this month’s Trans Talks, we discussed how different kinds of relationships change throughout our transition, highlighting both challenges and the opportunities. We explored how some connections may fade or end but that transition often creates space for stronger, healthier, and more affirming relationships.
